Bridge Run Training Program

The Cooper River Bridge Run is held annually on the first Saturday in April. This popular race is one of America's largest 10 km (that's 6.2 miles) road racing events that takes place in the Charleston area.

Are you interested in participating in our FREE training program? Are you seasoned running veteran?  Are you brand new to running?  Are you just looking to get fit or maybe lose some weight? Well, you can look no further because Campus Recreation Services offers a FREE training program designed to help you succeed no matter your goal.

Event Details

For the April 2022 event, the Bridge Run Training Program is scheduled to start on Monday, January 24.  Each week, we will provide participants with a "do it on your own time" training program outline as well as educational support (see below). The program is entirely voluntary.  Participation is the actual bridge run event is NOT required to join this program.   

Our Program

Our flexible program is designed for all levels of participants.  From the beginners to advanced level runners, and even for those looking for a walking program, all video seminars are recorded and the program is designed for you to participate at your own pace.  We will hold a weekly video seminar and provide you with a weekly training program.  Along with the training program, you will receive information on:

  • Advice on how to prepare for running events
  • Proper training and racing nutrition
  • Running tips to avoid injuries
  • Maintaining motivation & goal setting
  • How to properly warm-up
  • & much more

The program is designed for you to participate as much or as little as you would like.  Best of all, the training program is FREE for all College related members.
