Group Fitness Class Options

Summer faculty/staff fitness classes are back!  Beginning Tuesday, May 19 through June, we will offer Cougar Fit every Tuesday and Thursday LIVE from 5:15-6:00 p.m.  All session will be recorded so that you can access them anytime and anywhere.  These free classes are for faculty and staff of The College of Charleston only.

Here's what you need to do in order to sign up to access the live Zoom classes:

  • Go to our Group Fitness Calendar and select the Faculty/Staff Group Fitness class offering.
  • We use IMLeagues to help us with class registration.  If you haven't already, you will need to register with IMLeagues with your CofC email address.  If you already have an account, make sure you're logged in and you are good to go.  Make sure you add yourself to the class.  IMLeagues also has a free app you can download from your app store.  We recommend using the app to sign-up for your classes.  However, it is not required to download the app.
  • We will send you an email approximately 10-minutes prior to class starting with your Zoom link for the session you registered.
  • When it's time for class, use the Zoom link we emailed to you to access the free live class.

Can't attend the live class?  Do you want to have access to the classes at a time that works for you?  No problem.  We are recording all our Zoom classes so that you can access them anytime and anywhere.  Here's what you need to do to get access to these recorded sessions:

  • All live sessions are recorded.
  • You will automatically be enrolled into our Faculty and Staff Fitness Teams group when you sign up for a live class OR upon request (email lbuchana@cofc.edu).
  • Within the Faculty and Staff Fitness Teams group you will have access to all the recorded sessions plus all the extra workouts, tips, and fitness facts created just for you.

Cougar Fit is a circuit training style class using a high intensity interval training method. Instructors will choose a series of different exercises that target muscle groups of the upper and lower body along with the core area (abdominal and lower back).  Each exercise will be performed in an interval fashion with a work period followed by a rest period.  This method allows people of different fitness levels to participate and adjust the intensity to meet their ability.  The primary focus of this class is to provide a fitness challenge while emphasizing injury prevention through correct form and technique.
